‘Rape survivor’ writes to Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, seeks permission to end life

RANCHI: A 37-year-old rape survivor from Ranchi on Tuesday wrote to chief minister Hemant Soren, seeking permission to end her life, saying she had no option as the police are “shielding” her tormentors.

周二，一名来自兰奇的37岁强奸案幸存者写信给首席部长赫曼特·索伦，要求批准其结束生命，称她别无选择，因为警方正在“保护”折磨她的人。

“I have knocked on the doors of our justice system but to no avail. I will not continue to live a compromised life if justice is delayed and denied. Hence, I submitted my letter to the office of the chief minister today seeking permission to end my life,” she told TOI after submitting her letter.

“我敲开了我们司法系统的大门，但无济于事。如果司法拖延，我不会继续过一种妥协的生活。因此，我今天向首席部长办公室提交了我的信，请求允许结束我的生命，”她在提交信后告诉印度时报记者。

Her letter was received and stamped by the CMO on Tuesday. Top police officials immediately said they will look into the matter and deal with it transparently.

The survivor, a widow and mother of four, said in her letter that she filed a police complaint in connection with the crime on February 5 under sections 354, 376(2)(N), 376(2)(F), 417 and 34 of the IPC.

She named Safdar Sultan alias Saddam as the main accused and six others as co-accused. She also mentioned that the main accused has applied for anticipatory bail but the court is yet to decide on it. However, the police have not arrested him or any of the accused so far, she said

She said Safdar Sultan, an affluent man, had committed the crime on the pretext of marrying her over a period of time but backed out later. He had repeatedly tried to intimidate her, claiming that he had bribed the police and reached a compromise with them, she said.

She is not the only lady and a person who is facing this problem but thee are many who are disappointed with the functioning of administration and with those in power. MPs and MLAs are taking care of own family and relatives. Judicial system, Police and administration are all beyond reach of common man. Where do the people who suffer go from here.
