WASHINGTON: President Joe Biden believes that the US-India partnership is the most important relationship the US has in the world, said White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Friday.

Speaking about the first India-US 2+2 dialogue under the Biden administration next week, she said that Biden expects that the dialogue will continue driving forward US’ work with India and shared goals in the Indo-Pacific region. Secretary of state Antony Blinken and secretary of defence Lloyd Austin will welcome their counterparts S Jaishankar and Rajnath Singh in Washington DC on Sunday. “We also believe both sides will continue our close consultations on the consequences of President (Vladimir) Putin’s brutal war against Ukraine and mitigating the impact by addressing energy and food prices. Obviously, it could cover a range of topics, but we expect that to be a central one,” Psaki added.

在谈到下周拜登政府的首次印美2+2对话时，她表示，拜登希望对话将继续推动美国与印度的合作，以及在印太地区的共同目标。美国国务卿安东尼·布林肯和国防部长劳埃德·奥斯汀将于周日在华盛顿特区欢迎印度外交部长苏杰生和国防部长拉杰纳特·辛格。

There has been some disquiet in Washington over India’s position on the Ukraine crisis as well as its decision to procure discounted Russian oil. But Psaki said the administration’s key architect for Russian sanctions, Daleep Singh, had not issued any warning to India on oil imports from Russia during his recent trip to New Delhi and had a rather constructive dialogue. She noted that India imports more energy from the US than from Russia.

If thats the case, he should respect India’s stand to be neutral rather than keep blabbering about joining his coalition and go against Russia just for the sake of US.

Indian ties are most important to US only when the interests are common. The US acted in her own interest when it came to China and Pakistan. India does not love US she only loves herself.

Don't read too much in what US says. At this moment it is important because of China, afterwards ... let us remember how quick US views U turned and became Anti_Iraq, the moment Iran-Iraq war ended, and usefulness of Iraq was gone (from US selfish angle of course).

Further US has no option in Asia to counter China, that's why even india buy crude from Russia is no issue for US. All this credit goes to our Govt which has adopted balanced Foreign policy.

If US has to flex it's muscle in the Indian Ocean Region against China to protect its interests , it had to lean on India for support. None of the other countries in this region ( including Australia) has any worthwhile deterrent militarily.
