I like the idea of electric cars, that Hummer EV sounds awesome but I think we should learn from this Russia-Ukraine crises. That energy dependency is of utmost importance. Making EVs mandatory would just further increase our dependence on foreign countries because unlike oil which we have plenty of here in North America, we do not have plenty of lithium, zinc, etc. Russia is a major exporter in these so the more we push towards EVs the more we put ourselves in the predicament Germany is in who's economy would be destroyed overnight if they lost their source of Russia oil.
