Pakistan has denied reports that it was backing India’s bid for permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council. Speaking to reporters, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry rubbished ‘speculative’ reports on Islamabad's support for India’s UNSC bid. Some media reports had claimed earlier that Pakistan's Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari during his recent visit to Washington assured U.S Secretary of State Antony Blinken of India's UNSC bid.
