GUWAHATI/SHILLONG: Nine persons, including six children, died in monsoon-hit northeast, as heavy rains swept away homes and landslides cut off key highways connecting several states in the flood-hit region.

At least five persons, including four children and a woman died in Meghalaya, while two siblings, both minors, were crushed to death in a landslide in Assam’s Goalpara.
