NEW DELHI: PM Narendra Modi on Sunday said it is the country’s “misfortune” that schemes with good intent get mired in partisan politics.

新德里：莫迪总理周日表示，善意的计划陷入党派政治，这是国家的“不幸”。

“It is the misfortune of our country that many schemes, launched for good purpose, get entangled in partisan politics. Media also gets dragged into it due to its TRP compulsions and then it acquires a life of its own,” the PM said after inaugurating the Pragati Maidan Integrated Transit Corridor in the national capital.

总理在首都Pragati Maidan综合交通走廊举行落成典礼后说道：“许多出于良好目的而推出的计划卷入了党派政治，这是我们国家的不幸。”

The comment comes in the backdrop of violent protests against the Agnipath scheme with opposition parties demanding its rollback. However, Modi did not refer to the protests against the new scheme for recruitment to the armed forces and, instead, recalled criticism faced by the Central Vista project emphasising that political parties and others opposed to it deliberately glossed over the fact that it was part of a larger scheme to rebuild government buildings, including those of the defence ministry.

If the Agnipath/Agniveer proposal is for reducing the burden of Salary and pensions of defence personnel,let the Govt first curtail heavy pensionery benefits to our politicians, MPs and MLAs etc.. Let the Govt declare the financial implications on such freebies.

The fact remains that any new policy decisions are not acceptable to the opposition parties.They never took any major reform during their tenure in the office.Not that Mr Modi should be supported for any thing n every thing but issues should be taken up in proper forum.judiciary is also there for redressal.Pl do not instigate people and do not oppose things for the sake of opposition.
