Nearly one in four European firms consider shifting out of China

NEW DELHI: Nearly one in four European companies in China are considering shifting their investments out of the country as the ongoing Covid outbreaks and lockdowns dim the outlook for the world’s second-largest economy, a survey showed.

一项调查显示，近四分之一的在华欧洲公司正在考虑将投资转移到中国以外，持续的新冠疫情和封锁令这个世界第二大经济体的前景黯淡。

Some 23% of the businesses that responded to the survey are thinking of moving their current or planned investments away from China, according report released Monday by the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China. The survey was conducted at the end of April, when Shanghai was still in shutdown and restrictions in places like Jilin disrupted business activity.

根据在华欧盟商会周一发布的报告，约23%的受访企业正在考虑将当前或计划中的投资从中国转移出去。这项调查是在4月底进行的，当时上海仍处于封锁状态，吉林等地的限制令商业活动中断。

The number of European firms reassessing their options in China was the highest proportion in a decade in the ruvey, and also more than double the 11% recorded in a February poll, according to the chamber.

Indian government should immediately make a task force consisting of ministers, officials Indian investors, and businessmen and proactively talk to all companies and provide them facilities in India. This is create so many job opportunities and technology exposure to Indian engineers and companies. Government must not delay.
