Indian economy may touch USD 30 tn in next 30 years: Goyal

TIRUPPUR: India is one of the fastest-growing economies in the world and it is expected to reach USD 30 trillion in the coming 30 years, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said here on Sunday. If India grows at 8 per cent every year on a compounded annual growth basis, the economy will double in about nine years, he said.

印度商业和工业部长皮尤什·戈亚尔周日表示，印度是世界上增长最快的经济体之一，预计未来30年将达到30万亿美元。他表示，如果印度经济以每年8%的复合年增长率增长，那么印度经济将在9年内翻一番。

The country's economy at present stood at about USD 3.2 trillion and in nine years from today, he said, it will be about USD 6.5 trillion.

"Another nine years, that is 18 years from now, we will be about USD 13 trillion economy. And then another nine years after that, that is 27 years from now, we will be a USD 26 trillion economy... Then obviously, 30 years from today, confidently we can all expect that the Indian economy will be a USD 30 trillion economy," the minister said.

“之后再过9年，也就是18年后，我们的经济规模将达到13万亿美元。之后再过9年，也就是27年后，我们将成为26万亿美元经济体……我们可以满怀信心地期待，30年后，印度经济将成为30万亿美元的济体。”

Some "naysayers" have raised questions on these numbers but they should come to places like Tiruppur to see the significant jump in the growth of sectors like textiles, he added.

Goyal also said that the country's economy is growing at a healthy pace even in the current challenging times because of the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia and Covid-19 pandemic.

The war has led to a shortage of certain commodities in the global markets and it has pushed the world inflation, but India has managed to maintain its inflation at a reasonable level, the minister noted.

For "most of the items, we have been able to maintain the prices much better" even as compared to the developed world, he said.

Prosperity and GDP growth is directly proportional to a stable and powerful government at centre.Seeing the present condition,one may hope but not sure what will happen after 2029 and hence USD 30 trillion dollar economy looks suspicious. This solely depends upon the whole public of the country.

With a lot of mismanagenent at various state and district levels, incompetence and curruption, along with lack of discipline and respect for law by the citizens empty talks are what they are-just empty talk. First control population and then compulsarily teach citizens to be disciplined and law abiding.

We were supposed to be at 5 Trillion by 2022 but are at 3.1 Trillion. The current govt does not understand economics - just auth rianism and big talk. They had to reduce the defence budget too.
