ROORKEE: Days after a six-year-old girl accompanied by her mother was allegedly gang-raped in Roorkee by four men in a car who offered them a lift, local police on Monday said the mother, too, was gang-raped.

Police officers probing the case said they will now add details to the original FIR in the light of new revelations. A senior cop told TOI, "The four have been booked for ra the child under the Pocso Act". All of them are absconding.

According to the initial complaint, the 30-year-old woman and her daughter were travelling on foot towards Roorkee from Piran Kaliyar on June 24. A man called Sonu, who the mother already knew, offered them a lift in his car. She alleged Sonu rerouted the car to a sugarcane field and that's where her daughter was assaulted by the men who were in the car. The two were then dumped on the road.
