28-year-old Nagpur man suffers cardiac arrest while having sex with girlfriend, dies

NAGPUR: Ajay Parteki, 28, died in mysterious circumstances at a lodge in Saoner on Sunday while having physical relations with his girlfriend.

Prima facie Parteki suffered a cardiac arrest, with police not finding any evidence of the victim’s consuming any drugs. Police said the victim had fever for the last couple of days, as informed by his family. He was a driver and also doubled up as a welding technician.

表面上看，帕特基是心脏骤停，警方没有发现任何证据表明受害者服用了药物。

Parteki and a 23-year-old woman, a nurse from Chhindwada in Madhya Pradesh, had been in a relationship for last three years. The families also knew about it. The two had met on Facebook. Parteki had also approached the girlfriend’s mother for marriage. The couple was to tie the knot in the future.

Police said the couple had checked into the lodge at 4pm and about half an hour later he collapsed on the bed during lovemaking. The woman alerted the lodge management, who rushed the motionless man to hospital where he was declared dead.

Assistant police inspector (API) Satish Patil of Saoner police station said the woman told them that Parteki collapsed while they were getting intimate. “We found no evidence the victim had consumed any medicine. No drug wrappers or packets were found on him. The woman too said he did not consume anything in her presence,” said Patil. He said the viscera and blood are being sent for chemical analysis.

In the post mortem, doctors have indicated a possible heart attack as the prima facie cause of death. A case of accidental death was registered at Saoner police station.

Renowned cardiologist Dr Anand Sancheti said dying of cardiac arrest during sex is rare but possible. “An undiagnosed coronary artery disease can be fatal even in youngsters as young as mid-20s. We are finding more blockages in youths nowadays. If someone has an untreated coronary artery disease, it can prove fatal during strenuous activities like sex,” said Sancheti advising the baseline age for heart check-up to be 25 years, with reference to Parteki’s case.

Sancheti also explained there is heightened requirement of blood and oxygen for heart muscles during strenuous activities, which can be fatal if not met. He further underlined the fact that people suffering from hypertrophic cardiacmyopathy (thickening of the heart muscle) can also die during activities like sex. “The heart rate and blood pressure increases during sexual activities, which could lead to death,” he said, adding people now need to take more care of their heart than in the past.
