NEW DELHI: Helped by the government’s latest push for booster dose coverage, India was set to cross the milestone of 200 crore (2 billion) Covid vaccination doses on Saturday. The country achieved the feat in 18 months since the first Covid jab was given on January 16, 2021.

新德里：在政府最新推动扩大疫苗接种覆盖率的助力下，印度于周六突破20亿剂次的里程碑。

自2021年1月16日首剂次注射新冠疫苗以来，时隔18个月取得了这一成绩。

A total of 199.97 crore doses of Covid vaccine had been administered across the country till 9pm on Saturday. These included over 5.48 crore precaution doses till Saturday. Besides, more than 3.79 crore first dose of the vaccine had been given to children in the 12-14 age group. Over 71% of the doses have been administered in rural areas.

截至周六晚上9点，印度全接种了19.997亿剂新冠疫苗。其中包括截至周六的54.8万剂加强针。此外，为12-14岁年龄组的儿童接种了超过379万剂第一剂疫苗。超过71%的剂次是在农村地区接种的。

On Saturday, over 25 lakh jabs were given till 8.30pm, including over 18 lakh precaution doses. From July 15, the government started a special drive of free precaution dose for all adults in government centres with an aim to boost coverage of booster shots.

Only China, which claims to have given over 340 crore doses, has administered a higher number of vaccines than India. However, several details about China’s vaccine data aren’t readily available.
