JAIPUR: Three women devotees were killed, and two others were injured in a stampede at Khatu Shyam temple in Sikar district of the state on Monday morning. Chief minister Ashok Gehlot has expressed condolences on the deaths.

According to the police, due to the Ekadashi on Monday which is considered auspicious for the visit to the Khatushyamji temple, a large number of pilgrims from all across Rajasthan and other states had gathered outside the temple since Sunday evening.

据警方称，由于周一断食日被认为是前往KhatuShyamji庙的吉祥日，从周日晚上开始，来自拉贾斯坦邦和其他邦的大量朝圣者聚集在寺庙外。

“A large number of people were waiting outside the temple premises gate, which is nearly 70 feet away from the main temple. As the gates were opened at 5.15am a stampede occurred in which three women were killed. Two others were also injured in the accident,” said Kunwar Rastradeep, superintendent of police, Sikar while talking to TOI.

“很多人在寺庙大门外等候，距离主庙近70英尺。早上5点15分大门打开时发生踩踏事件，造成3名妇女死亡。另有两人在事故中受伤,”西卡尔警长拉斯特拉迪普在接受《印度时报》采访时表示。

Soon after the incident, a large number of policemen reached the spot. "The injured were rushed to the hospital where three women devotees were declared brought dead by the hospital authorities,” Rastradeep added.

Police said that the stampede occurred when the devotees suddenly started running towards the temple after gates were opened in the morning.

Police said that so far they have the update on the two injured and are collecting information on if others too were injured.

During the month of Shravan on every Ekdashi, many devotees gather for the fair of Lord Khatu Shyamji. According to an estimate, more than 1 lakh devotees had gathered outside the temple to offer prayers on Monday morning on the occasion of Ekadashi.

When heavy crowds of devotees were anticipated the government should have made adequate arrangements to send the people in proper queue system. Certainly it was due to complete failure of local administration and the Police Department for all the losses of lives and the injuries to devotees.

it is bad management of temple authorities. they keep the door closed for 3 hours in the afternoon and the poor devotees are made to wait in queue. because of this a lot of rush happen. I experience myself last week and I decided to not visit the temple because of poor management. they feel proud that 1 lakh devotees are standing for Darshan. this is ruthless by the temple management
