On August 8, for the first time in China, permits were granted allowing fully driverless cars to operate as taxs. For now, the service is available with restrictions in the cities of Chongqing and Wuhan. But analysts say the technology could see expanded usage in the next few years

Not quite. There are similar trials in Phoenix Arizona, for a US company. Not sure how well they are progressing since they started. There is a similar trial in Russia by Yandex. It’s still an impressive feat. It does mean China is up there with the best.
