New power unit starts operation at China's major hydropower station

中国大型水电站的新发电机组开始商业运行

The power-generating unit 13 of the Baihetan Hydropower Station passed a 72-hour trial operation and started formal operation on September 18, marking the eleventh power-generating unit that has gone operational out of a total of 16 units constructed in the mega project.

白鹤滩水电站13号机组通过72小时试运行，并于9月18日开始正式运行，该大型工程共建设16台机组，其中第11台机组已投入运行。

The Baihetan hydropower project is a 16 gigawatt (GW) hydroelectric facility under construction on the insha River, the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, and extends over Sichuan and Yunnan provinces. Upon completion and production, the hydropower station will generate an average of more than 62.4 billion kWh of electricity every year, sufficient for the annual electricity consumption of approxmately 75 million people.
