NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched 5G services in India on Saturday at the India Mobile Congress in New Delhi.

Telecom minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and industry leaders Mukesh Ambani of Reliance, Sunil Bharti Mittal of Bharti Airtel and Kumar Mangalam Birla of Vodafone Idea were present at the launch event in New Delhi.

PM Modi went around pavilions set up by different telecom operators and technology providers to get a first-hand experience of what 5G can do. He spent time understanding the indigenous development of end-to-end 5G technology. He termed the launch of 5G a gift from the telecom industry to 130 crore Indians.

5G telecom services seek to provide seamless coverage, high data rate, low latency and highly reliable communications system. It is expected to vastly improve several sectors like online education, mining, warehousing and telemedicine.

The commercial rollout in 13 cities in the initial phase is expected around Diwali.

莫迪总理参观了几家电信运营商和技术供应商的展馆，以便了解5G的第一手资料。他花时间了解了端到端5G技术的本土研发。他称5G的推出是电信行业送给13亿印度人的礼物。

By bringing 5-G in India, Modi ji has pocketed several million dollars as the license fees from the providers allowing them to raise the internet rate to cover the cost. But, what about the 10-15 crores 5-G users? Did they get any monetary benefits? Did the 8o crores Indians, who cannot feed their families without free nation, will get something? Modiji, please do something for them.
