It wil depend mostly on the developments over the next months, I wouldn't be surprised if the Russian Federation will fall apart over the upcoming years. Some of the eastern states will be highly influenced by China, those in the west may move very slow into the European sphere of influence. And Russia of course will try to get some of the cake, too.

Anyway, the future looks a lot brighter for China than for Russia.
