LUCKNOW: During the inaugural session of the 81st annual session of Indian Road Congress (IRC) that took place at Indira Gandhi Pratisthan of Lucknow on Saturday, Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari announced projects worth Rs 8,000 crore for Uttar Pradesh. He said that the roads of Uttar Pradesh have to be made better than the United States before 2024. "For this, the Modi government is going to approve Rs 5 lakh crore for UP in the coming days," he said.

Listing down his expectations from the Yogi Adityanath government, Gadkari asked the state government to introduce electric double-decker air-conditioned buses for urban transportation in the state.

To bring down environmental pollution and carbon emissions, Gadkari urged Yogi to ensure that use of diesel and petrol gets phased out in UP in a gradual manner. "For development of any region and to create employment, providing infrastructure is the investments. Our PM has a vision to make India the most powerful economy and good infrastructure is going to be required to do so," he said.

为了减少环境污染和碳排放，加德卡里敦促约吉确保北方邦逐步淘汰柴油和汽油的使用。“对于地区的发展及创造就业，基础设施是基本需要。要吸引投资，需要好的道路、稳定的水电供应。我们总理的愿景是让印度成为最强大的经济体，为此需要良好的基础设施。”

Pointing out that the road and civil infrastructure works are adding up to 40% of the air pollution, Gadkari pointed out that UP needs to do more apart from producing the largest amount of ethanol in the country. “The stubble generated due to farming can be recycled to produce bitumen. Also discarded and wasted powder of the tyres can be utilised to produce bitumen. UP also needs to follow the London model for providing transportation in the urban areas,” said Gadkari.

LUCKNOW:The minister said that all of the state's bus stations will be revamped on a PPP basis in cooperation with NHAI. The first phase will see 25 stations upgraded. Gadkari said that Uttar Pradesh will soon get the Gorakhpur-Siliguri, Varanasi-Kolkata and GorakhpurBareilly corridor, which would be a part of Bharatmala Project-2. The Union minister also announced that PratapgarhSultanpur-Ayodhya State Highway will be widened while 12 rail overhead bridges will be built in Uttar Pradesh at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore.

A tall claim made by Gadkari Ji. Please evaluate the previous road works undertaken with the Purvanchal Expressway performance in particular before making a laughing stock of the Govt and your poor performance.
