Word 'Hindu' is Persian, has dirty meaning: Karnataka Congress leader Satish Jarkiholi

卡纳塔克邦国大党领导人萨迪什·贾基胡利：“印度教”这个词源于波斯语，含贬义

BELAGAVI: Stirring up a fresh controversy, Karnataka Congress working president Satish Jarkiholi has claimed that the word 'Hindu' is Persian and has an unpleasant meaning.

"Do an internet search to find out the meaning of the word (Hindu). It is not yours. Then why are you placing it at such an exalted position? If you understand its meaning, you will be ashamed. The meaning of the word Hindu is very dirty," said the senior Congress MLA from Yamakanmardi on Sunday.

On Monday, Jarkiholi admitted that he did make these statements and stands by it.

Reacting to its own party leader's statements, the All-India Congress Committee (AICC) termed it deeply unfortunate and rejected it 'unequivocally'. "Hinduism is a way of life & a civilisational reality. Congress built our nation to respect every religion, belief AND faith. This is the essence of India. The statement attributed to Satish Jarkiholi is deeply unfortunate and deserves to be rejected. We condemn it unequivocally," said AICC general secretary and Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala.

周一，贾基胡利承认他确实说过这些话，并坚持这一说法。

Jarkiholi asserted that there is a need to treat every human as human. "Water becomes impure if a Dalit touches it but they (upper castes) have no problem if a buffalo touches it. Our fight is against such discrimination. We built temples. We give donations. But, once it's ready, our entry is barred into the temple. Our fight is against it and for equal rights. We know our fight won't get a positive response immediately, because the culture of discrimination is deep rooted," Jarkiholi rued.

Jarkiholi, who also runs a campaign against superstitions through his Manav Mandhutva Vedike, said the true history of Chhatrapati Shivaji wouldn't have been told if not for social reformer Jyotiba Phule from Maharashtra. Phule brought out the true history of Chhatrapati through his Satyashodhak organization. "It's worth dwelling on the fact that Shivaji had built a mosque in Pratapgad Fort in Maharashtra," he said.

贾基胡利还开展了一项反对迷信的运动，他说，如果没有马哈拉施特拉邦的社会改革家普勒，贾特拉帕蒂·希瓦吉的真实历史就只能湮没无闻。普勒揭露了贾特拉帕蒂的真实历史。他说:“希瓦吉在马哈拉施特拉邦的普拉塔普加德堡建了一座清真寺，这件事值得深思。”

Budha was born hindu and died like a hindu, his follower later made it a Buddhism. Ambedkar was born hindu, but ran away from Hinduism to become Buddhist so he and his followers do not have any right to comment on other religion.
