A few weeks ago, a Tesla car crashed into a building in China - killing two people. The video of the crash has gone viral on Chinese social media.

What actually happens in these circumstances is hard to believe at first but makes a lot of sense when you understand it. The driver has confused the acceleration for break pedal. In their mind they are slamming their foot on the break where in fact they continue to accelerate. This has happened to many major auto makers long before autopilot. Toyota dealt with very similar stories.

I have seen this before. The driver holds the gas pedal to the floor thinking it's the brake pedal. Happens more often than you think.

How did the car not stop, even without brakes, car would stop on its own if no accelerator pressed, right ?

Also, if you press there right stalk button, off and on,  that is like the hand brake of a regular car, certainly at those speeds, using it, is scary.

It seems that the driver is mistakenly using the gas vs the brake based on the data from the car. Maybe the driver went through partial paralysis or a stroke of the foot.

In the begng, when the car was at a slow speed, the driver could turn away from the bike. This proves the driver was in control and the chances of him mistaking acceleration and brake pedal are minimal.

I've heard several stories about Tesla cars with unintentional acceleration or failed brakes.  I don't care if the company thinks it's possible, they need to do whatever it takes to fix it or prove it's not happening.  A camera watching the foot pedals would go a long way toward proving driver error.

Most probably in the floor mat got stuck or curled up underneath the brake pedal so he couldn’t press it down and he probably had it in auto pilot on a cruise control. This is the only explanation.

What if the brakes are not working? If we lift our leg from the accelerator, the ground friction will automatically bring the vehicle to a halt. The driver is telling a lie I believe.

No way the tesla had brake issues.  If you remove the foot from the accelerator pedal, the motors will will slow it down.

If breaks didn't work why did he accelerated. Is it stuck? But regardless this shouldn't be hard to find out. Every modern EV has logs keep tracking everything happening. If breaks filed should be able to identify that.
