NEW DELHI: The Indian Army now wants to go hi-tech with a vengeance. The 12-lakh force has now issued preliminary tenders to acquire 48 jetpack suits for soldiers to ‘fly’ at speeds of over 50 km per hour, 100 robotic mules and 130 new-generation ‘tethered’ drone systems through fast-track procedures for emergency procurements.

Under the RFP (request for proposal) issued for the jetpacks, the Army said the suits with a modern propulsion system should provide controls for safe ascent and descent, take-off and landing in all directions.

印度军队现在想要大力发展高科技。120万部队现在已经发布了初步招标，通过快速采购程序，为士兵购买48套喷气式飞机套装，让他们能以超过每小时50公里的速度“飞行”，100辆机器人骡子和130套新一代无人机系统。

根据为喷气背包发布的RFP（征求建议书），陆军表示，配备现代推进系统的宇航服应能在各个方向提供安全升降、起飞和着陆的控制。

Hello Prashant Sir. My elder brother is a PhD student at IISc Bangalore and he along with his guide are actually specifically working on 2-legged robots. They have already built 4-legged robots and they were also ready to start selling it to their clients. However, because it is a niche field, they are unable to sell the complete robot to clients. Even the people who actually approach them, want things to be cheaper and therefore, they generally demand just for sub-parts of the main robot. I think, govt should offer some incentive to researchers like them because already the compensation to researchers in India is quite less. On top of that, big organisations like DRDO expect them to sell the robots for dearth cheap price. This is the reason why research lags so much in India.

Also frankly in India government services and their examinations has over the top importance compared to any other countries I ever lived (all top 7 developed countries). Somehow the English system of government services and the importance to it has not changed compared STEM majors. Even in STEM only computer science is getting more traction and not computer engineering, electronics, electrical, mechanical, civil , robotics, aviation etc
