In many people's eyes, China might be one of the most homogeneous countries in the world and most of its population are predominantly Han Chinese. However, that is not always the case, for example here in Tacheng, X injiang, you gonna come across people from numerous ethnic groups including Uyghur, Kazakh, Tatar, Hui Muslim, Russian, etc.

Love your videos. China is a mix of cultures. It is totally unique. A develo and thriving country, where a great amount of ethnic groups live together and share cultures. It is not like countries in the american continent and Europe, where there's not such diversity, other places in Asia, like Japan, way less diverse in this terms etc.

Japan is definitely the most homogeneous country, that has it's major benefits and drawbacks too. One day I would love to go to the western border of China and see the nature all the way up to Kashgar!

Diversity? Hell yeah, many cities have it. Don't forget Yunnan and Kunming, 26 nationalities in the same area, all with their own cultures. I really love this part of China and the diversity of all China. "All nationalities are equal", that's from China's own constitution and all minorities are represented in the government. The Han-ethnocentricity people believe in just doesn't exst. It's a thing western people believe in because the judge China through their own race fixated imperialism.

Frankly even amongst Han Chinese there is much diversity. Of course Nationally, China prefers to play up similarities of ALL ethnic groups. But Han's speak a variety of dialects which in actual fact when compared to other places like say Europe, are effectively languages. I mean particularly a place like Fujian, many of the words don't even sound anywhere near PuTongHua. If you consider the Southern provinces as different in language and some customs, then the more homogenous areas basically other Northern plains. Peripheral areas in DongBei, South or South West and Western China have huge varieties of ethnicities. With population slow down and BRI/external circulation, these ethnic groups will play an even more pivotal role in coming decades. Also it looks like in time, China will also try to attract the best minds over to her Universities and will experience an influx of Immigrants to add to diversity. China has a ways to go to fully accommodate foreigners (as could be seen from some racial incidents involving Africans in Guangzhou area during Pandemic). But bigoted people are found everywhere in the world. With increase education and exposure, this should improve. As we can see already, there is a growing number of Inter Chinese-African marriages. West prefer to see China as faceless robots but it is the West that tends towards group think these days simplifying their view of the world. One thing ALL ethnicities share in common is love for food. Everyone has to eat.

I'm a Black American and when I lived in China I dated a woman who was injiang Chinese. I got to learn a lot and she considered herself Chinese even though she didn't look Chinese. She was proud of the nation.
