Some in Tamil Nadu believe their state is the best in India, and some in Kerala say that their state is the best. You go to Goa or Maharashtra, and they tell you that their state is among the richest in India. Then, on the other hand, some northeastern Indian states also do pretty well in certain parameters. But the debate should finally be settled today because in this video, I present to you the most comprehensive study on Indian states that I have ever come across. So, sit tight and don’t go anywhere because within the next five minutes you will know which states in India are the ‘best’, why they are the ‘best’, which states are the worst performers, and why it is the way it is. To start with, we should understand one thing. Before examining any state, we should remember that economic performance is important, but it is not everything. Factors like environment, governance, infrastructure, financial inclusion, and social development (just to name a few) are also very important.

There are lot of Malayalees who keep talking about how great the education system is in Kerala. However I have seen so many students from Kerala in Bangalore. Coimbatore, Chennai and Hyderabad. The education system in Kerala is like how it was shown in the Classmates (2006) film.

Makes sense that Kerala is the topper in social indicators but not in infrastructure or economy. In fact that is exactly where it stands out among other states but I think people always mistake it for being the most developed rather than being the best at making sure everyone gets a piece of the pie.

Frankly, Kerala has issues too, it’s a state where people leave the state for earning better despite being educated, because it failed to develop any modern industry except agri export and tourism. Most Keralites invest back in Kerala, but prefer to stay outside. Either in India or overseas.

The real eye opener here is Punjab has degraded so far down... Even all 5 South Indian states are above it... Rajasthan might beat it, they are doing . I think everything below Punjab is "develo state" on Indian standard. Punjab and Andhra Pradesh as lower half of "developed" and everything above that as upper half of developed, Maharashtra and Goa is highly developed. I would only put Bihar in the undeveloped and isn't going to develop anytime soon category. UP is doing amazing I will say, from being at the same level as Bihar.
