NEW DELHI: In twin decisions aimed at enhancing security along the India-China border, the Union cabinet on Wednesday approved Rs 4,800 crore for 'Vibrant Villages Programme' envisaging all-round development of civilian settlements adjoining the northern land border to reverse out-migration,

while also clearing the raising of seven new battalions of Indo-Tiban Border Force (ITBP) to plug the border gaps in Arunachal Pradesh.

"Today's Cabinet decision on Vibrant Villages Programme will be beneficial for several people living in remote and border areas. Sectors such as tourism, skill development and entrepreneurship will be among the many key focus areas," PM Modi tweeted after the meeting.

新德里：印度做出了旨在加强中印边境安全的两项决定。周三，印度内阁批准了480亿卢比的“活力乡村计划”，该计划设想全面发展毗邻北部陆地边界的平民定居点，以扭转当地人向外迁的趋势。

同时还批准了七个新的印地边境部队营，以填补印控"阿鲁纳恰尔邦"（注：即我藏南）的边境缺口。

莫迪总理会后在推特上表示：“今天内阁关于活力乡村计划的决定将有利于居住在偏远和边境地区的一些人。旅游业、技能开发和创业等领域将是众多重点领域之一。”。

This program must be extended to Punjab , Gujrat borders adjoining Pakistan and incentives given to people for settling down there. It was proposed in as early as 1950s, to settle ex servicemen demobilised after second world war and regular retirees along Pakistan border . This was rejected by Nehru. Even now it is not late to revive the plan. With improved communication and infrastructure , there will be volunteers.
