Karnataka approves Foxconn's Rs 8,000-crore mobile manufacturing unit plan near Bangaluru

BENGALURU: The Karnataka government on Monday, through its state high-level clearance committee (SHLCC), cleared the proposed Rs 8,000-crore investment by Taiwanese company Foxconn.

班加罗尔：周一，卡纳塔克邦政府通过邦高层审查委员会，批准了台湾富士康800亿卢比的投资计划。

The project is to manufacture mobile devices and is expected to come up on the outskirts of Bengaluru, across the Doddaballapur and Devanahalli taluks.

The project received the green light at a meeting that saw 10 proposals worth Rs 75,393 crore being cleared.

As per the project details shared by the government, Foxconn Hon Hai Technology India Mega Development Pvt Ltd, registered in Tamil Nadu, will provide employment for 50,000 people.

A few weeks ago, the government had issued a release stating that Foxconn would be establishing a plant in Karnataka, and some government officials had tweeted that the project would involve manufacture of Apple devices. But soon after, Foxconn issued a statement saying that no definite agreement had been signed between the company and any Indian state.
