Covid cases surge in India: PM Modi says Covid far from over, urges focus on 5-fold strategy & genome sequencing

印度新冠病例激增：莫迪总理表示新冠疫情远未结束，敦促关注五步操作和基因组测序

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting on Wednesday to review Covid-related situation and public health preparedness in view of the recent surge in coronavirus cases as well as influenza infections.

新德里：鉴于近期新冠病例和流感感染数量激增，印度总理纳伦德拉·莫迪周三举行了一次高级别会议，审查新冠疫情和公共卫生准备工作。

Focus on 5-fold strategy, enhance genome sequencing: PM

总理称：聚焦五步操作，增加基因组测序

As per a release by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), PM Modi advised to continue focusing on 5-fold strategy of Test-Track-Treat-Vaccination and Covid appropriate behaviour, enhance lab surveillance and testing of all Severe Acute Respiratory Illness cases.

He also said that mock drills should be conducted regularly to ensure that "our hospitals are ready for all exgencies".

根据总理办公室发布的一份声明，莫迪总理建议继续关注“测试-监测-治疗-疫苗接种和规范行为”的五步操作，并加强对所有严重急性呼吸道疾病病例的实验室监测和检测。

他还表示，应该定期进行模拟演习，确保“我们的医院为所有紧急情况做好准备”。

Covid appropriate behaviour, masks

端正行为，佩戴口罩

The PM also emphasised Covid appropriate behaviour including wearing of masks in hospital premises by both patients, health professionals and health workers. He also stressed that wearing of masks is advisable when senior citizens and those with co-morbidities visit crowded areas.

总理还强调大家都应规范自己的行为，包括患者、卫生专业人员和卫生工作者都必须在医院场所戴口罩。他还强调，老年人和有并发症的人到人群密集地时最好都佩戴口罩。

'Covid far from over'

Further, the PM stressed the need to ensure availability of required drugs and logistics for influenza and Covid-19 across health facilities along with availability of sufficient beds and human resources.

此外，总理强调要确保各卫生机构所需的流感和新冠药物的供应，并提供足够的床位和工作人员。

He also highlighted that Covid-19 pandemic is far from over and there is a need to monitor the status across the country on regular basis.

他还强调，新冠疫情远未结束，有必要定期监测全国的情况。

Highest single day rise in cases

单日新增病例最多

As per the daily Union health ministry bulletin, India recorded a single-day rise of 1,134 Covid cases -- the highest so far this year. The active cases have increased to 7,026. The death toll climbed to 5,30,813 with five fresh deaths. The daily positivity was recorded at 1.09%, while the weekly positivity was pegged stood at 0.98%.

根据联邦卫生部的每日公报，印度单日新增1134例新冠病例，是今年迄今为止最多的一天。阳性病例总数增至7026例。死亡总人数攀升至530,813人，新增5例死亡。日感染率为1.09%，周感染率为0.98%。

On March 19, the health ministry had issued revised guidelines for Covid-19 in the wake of the surge in cases.

On March 16, the Union health ministry had written to the state governments of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka to follow a five-fold strategy of test, track, treat and vaccinations as these states witnessed a rise in Covid-19 cases.
