China trying to export its product all the time, a rich Vietnam can buy more product and will be more stable . Their people don’t have to work for cartels to earn money; more trade means more connection, this means peace. Why should we fight each other if we can make money in the first place?

What’s more. If Vietnam the neighbor of China, can be rich. This is a model for other countries that willing to cooperate with China.

Vietnam is a large market for Chinese products due to the similar culture. So a rich Vietnam will be beneficial to China

It also causes the government to loose money in the form of foreign aids.

In my opinion, they don’t want the unification at both case. They prefer to be the fisherman to take advantage the case two big fishes fighting each other.

Vietnam is successful to unify the country, out of the China’s will. Korea isn’t.

In that logic, the Korea peninsula is better deal to China, but it’s really not.

Firstly, a rich Vietnam is much better for Vietnam itself and China. It’s much more easier for China to coexst with a highly developed Vietnam with a prosperous economy and a clean politics. A rich Vietnam means more opportunities for its neighbouring provinces in China to develop businesses. I am not surprised that you Vietnamese feel that way. Let me tell you a secret. Every small country makes the same accusation against its bigger neighbor. In my country (Nepal), people always claim that India doesn’t want us to become rich and that’s why they interfere in our internal affairs and want to grab all our natural resources - water being the main resource. How much of it is true? I have no idea.
