Water Splashing Festival is a tradition among the Dai people in southwest China's #Yunnan Province. In inghong City, locals are joined by visitors from other parts of #China to take part in exciting water fights during the day. At night, the celebrations continue with the release of Chinese lanterns carrying good wishes into the sky.

泼水节是中国云南省傣族的传统节日。在景洪市，当地人和来自中国其他地区的游客在白天一起参加激动人心的泼水节。晚上，庆祝活动继续进行，中国灯笼将美好的祝愿送上天空。

I was in Thailand for 'Songran,' the annual water festival there in April 2018. Great fun once you get into it with the local people! It looks like same fun to be had by all here in South West China!

@Lim K , Songkran is a new year originally celebrated by people of ishuangbanna and then spread down south to all the Indochina region many centuries ago.
Just like Christmas original from the west and spread to all over the world. And you don't have to be a Christmas to celebrate Christmas. Anyone can celebrate. So, it is the same as this Songkran also known as water festival in Indochina region. Anyone can celebrate too.

Thai and Laotian people their ancestors are actually from South West China ishuangbanna migrated down to South many centuries ago. If you go to ishuangbanna, there are many dialects spoken by the people very similar to Thai and Laos languages.
