KHARGONE: At least 22 people, including three children and 10 women, were killed and 31 others injured when a passenger bus fell off a bridge in Oon police station area of Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday.

Khargone Sub-Divisional Officer (police) Rakesh Mohan Shukla told TOI that the bus heading towards Indore fell off after breaking through the railing of the bridge on Borad river bridge near Dongargaon, about 34km from the district headquarters.

Driver 'slept' over the wheels

Shukla said that at present the bus driver has not been traced. According to the preliminary information, it appears that he had a bout of sleep and lost control of the vehicle.

very unfortunate incident, poor people loose their lives. system should be made to ensure the driver's are in fit condition ( Not consumed alcohol) and no extended duty beyond 8 Hrs. before taking charge of the bus.
