India is way ahead of China in population growth. The birth rate has diminished a lot in China and it’s not just because of the one-child policy (which has been abolished anyway) but also because the child rearing costs are so expensive and many young people (especially women) can now make the choice to be childfree.

In the past it was just expected that every single person have children. The declining birth rate in China has caused the government to panic a lot but they haven’t been successful at convincing people to have more kids. A declining birth rate means fewer workers. Unless China can find some solution to reverse the falling birth rate or solve the issue of labor then it will face large economic problems in the future.

If it is only one field you would allow, then it is in foreign policy. Our foreign policy is widely appreciated and has won India many supporters. But in this area China is a major failure. If two fields are allowed, then it the second is in Rule of Law, which is much better in India than in China.

It is only in the economic field that China is much ahead. But one has to ask “Does man live by bread alone”?

In what ways India is superior to China?

From an objective standpoint, India has only two clear advantages: geography and global political standpoint.

India is the heart of the Indian Ocean, which is a route that China needs to use to gain access to natural gas and oil (at least a majority of it). India can control that trade, and has the power to cut the supply to China off. India’s global political standpoint gives it allies such as the USA, Japan, South Korea, Australia, the EU, and even Russia, as well as various other states. That is the main points that a person can make for India being better than China, all other points are either small/insignificant, or biased.
