Chinese researchers develop high-flexbility solar cells for low-carbon development

Research fellows from the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology under the #Chinese Academy of Sciences have developed high-flexbility #monocrystalline silicon solar cells to serve China's low-carbon development in a better way.

I've seen flexble solar panels before, but if I remember correctly they were organic. This is the first time I've seen flexble monocrystalline solar panels. And they have the high efficiency of regular monocrystalline. Neat.

The only problem now is scaling up. The West (US) had made number of such improvements and other advancement through the years, but none of which came to market. Invention is one thing, making it practical and a product that can be widely adopted is another. But I believe if anyone can get it to scale up it would be China.

Just like the EMR made by the US army in comparison to the Chinese. US EMR is useless and not practical. Too bulky and can only be operated on land and not enough electrical energy to follow up with another shot.
Chinese EMR is small and portable and already installed on their warships! It can fire in succession!
So, it's not about who has it 1st. It's about how practical and useful your product is.
