India and China held another round of diplomatic talks Wednesday to resolve the eastern Ladakh border standoff with India pushing Beiing to take the disengagement process forward.

While a breakthrough to resolve the issue remained elusive, this was the first time that India hosted what was the 27th Meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border affairs (WMCC) in person since the military flare up in May 2020.

Both sides in the talks on Wednesday agreed to hold the next round of military dialogue soon.

According to an Indian readout, the two sides reviewed the situation along the LAC in Western Sector of India-China border areas and discussed proposals for disengagement in remaining areas in a frank and open manner. Restoration of peace and tranquillity will create conditions for normalising bilateral relations, said the Indian government.

根据印度方面的消息，双方审查了中印边界西段实控线地区的局势，并以坦率和开放的方式讨论了在剩余地区脱离接触的提议。印度政府表示，恢复和平与安宁将为双边关系正常化创造条件。

"In order to achieve this objective, in accordance with exsting bilateral agreements and protocols, they agreed to hold the next (19th) round of Senior Commander's meeting at an early date. The two sides agreed to continue discussions through military and diplomatic channels," according to the Indian statement issued after the meeting.
