I'm staying in bangalore, which is one of the top cities in India and I barely noticed any changes since last 10 years in infrastructure whereas in China new cities(4x better than bangalore) are pop up like restaurants. We are so behind China and we are not doing any thing to keep up with them. We are Focusing our resources on stupid religious hatred. Whenever I bring up this issue on bhakt subreddit, they give the argument that we better off than pakistan and we should be happy with it. Comparing only with Pakistan and getting horny isn't going solve any problems. When will we learn this. Coming back to question, Is there any chance we will ever become China in this century?

We are always late to the party it seems. The knack of inventiness is missing, we didn't build the OpenAI neither did Bitcoin come out of India. If we are able to make progress in capturing the AI market, quantum computing or any other technology that adds value to the world of course tides can turn. I really hope we are able to move ahead on the GDP per capita metric.

AI market is futile since most of the profit will belong to companies like Google, OpneAI/MSFT, IBM, Nvidia, Facebook, etc. who are already established in this and who will own the hardware and software that will be doing most of the work.

Companies like apple and qualcomm have already started investing billions in india..i do agree though we wont see foreign capital flow into india to the extent it did in china..i think us does want to see a stronger india to counteract chinas influence in asia.

One thing people fail to notice is that india has two economies: black and white. The numbers that you show there is white economy. If I were to take a guess, the black economy is 2-3x the size of white one.
