Even as the Ukraine issue again cast a shadow, the G20 development ministers' meeting in Varanasi Monday saw 2 outcomes - an action plan to expedite progress on SDGs and another on sustainable development lifestyles - that were unanimously endorsed by the group, prompting foreign minister S Jaishankar to call it the biggest achievement under India’s presidency.

尽管乌克兰问题再次给G20发展部长会议蒙上阴影，但周一在瓦拉纳西举行的G20发展部长会议取得了两项成果——加快可持续发展目标进展的行动计划和关于可持续发展生活方式的行动计划——得到了该集团的一致认可，外交部长苏杰生称这是印度担任主席国以来最大的成就。

According to Jaishankar, the G20 finally recognised that the Global South was facing serious problems and came together to back India’s action plan without getting bogged down by politics. The focus, he said, was now back on development and the real issues the world, particularly the Global South, was faced with.

苏杰生说，G20最终认识到全球南方国家正面临严重问题，并在没有被政治束缚的情况下联合起来支持印度的行动计划。他说，现在的焦点又回到了发展和世界，特别是全球南方国家面临的实际问题上。

Like with the foreign and finance ministers' meetings earlier this year though, the development ministerial too had to make do with an outcome document and chair’s summary, in the absence of a joint communique, because of objections raised by Russia and China to a couple of paragraphs related to Ukraine.

The outcome document mentioned that while Russia 'disassociated' itself from the status of the document as a common outcome because of references to the Ukraine-related paragraphs, China stated that the meeting outcome should not include any reference to the Ukraine crisis.

"These 2 very important outcomes found unanimous support. This central to all development and, frankly, the biggest achievement of our presidency so far. When the countries of the Global South read this document, they will say India heard us," said Jaishankar, adding that many participating delegations felt India's presidency brought development back to the centre of G20.
