As a fellow filipino, what? We should be proud to have our own culture and be proud of our independence. Being a mix of filipino Chinese ethnicity, i do love Chinese culuture and respect it but for them to invade would be a bad way to think of it. If you love Chinese,Japanese culuture so much, why not just move there. We must also learn to love our culture, even if it is lacking, it is part of our identity as a pinoy!

Why can’t the Philippines have its own culture? Japan and Vietnam are heavily influenced by the Chinese culture because they are geographically close to China. The Philippines, however, is southeastern to China and remotely located in the Pacific Ocean. There had been trade between the two, but obviously it was not enough to bring about cultural changes.

It’s not correct to say that Vietnam has Chinese culture. This is downplaying the unique development of Vietnamese culture.

Vietnamese culture is Chinese-like to untrained foreign eyes (like Korean/Japanese) but once you are familiar, you can see the unique styles to Vietnam, for example the curved roofs of Vietnamese traditional architecture.

HUH? I guess in a way, as long as the culture was not forced upon the Vietnamese people (I.e native Americans through residential schools). They are ‘lucky’ to have experienced a different culture and it has nothing to do with the fact that it just so happens to be Chinese culture.

At best, it would leave you alone, or perhaps strike some deal from which both can profit. Japan is even much worse than China, if you think Japan is hel you, better watch your back for a knife!

Oh my…Can't stop laughing. You should know that it took 300 years after Vietnam gained its independence from China to be recognized as an independent country. One thousand years of Chinese territory and hundreds of years to fight against China's sovereignty claim. If our ancestors thought like you, there would be no Vietnam and I would be talking in Chinese right now.

Vietnam has never had such a strange hairstyle. Braid braiding is Chinese culture, not Vietnamese culture.
