India hands over warship to Vietnam, with an eye on China

印度向越南赠送军舰，紧盯中国

NEW DELHI: India on Saturday handed over missile corvette INS Kirpan to Vietnam, with Navy chief Admiral R Hari Kumar stressing the convergence of views between the two countries on the Indo-Pacific in the backdrop of China’s belligerence in the region.

“Vietnam serves as an important partner in India’s ‘Indo-Pacific Vision’, which aims to strengthen ties and develop partnerships towards kee the region safe, secure and stable,” Admiral Kumar said, presiding over the ceremony at Cam Ranh.

新德里：周六，印度将导弹护卫舰“基尔潘”号赠予越南，海军上将R 哈里·库马尔强调，鉴于中国意欲在该地区挑起争端，印越两国在印太问题上的观点趋于一致。

“The recent signing of the ‘joint vision statement on India-Vietnam defence partnership towards 2030’ will significantly enhance the scope and scale of exsting security collaboration and ensure that no ‘single’ nation can unilaterally alter or misinterpret rules to serve its own interests in the Indo-Pacific,” he added.

Defence minister Rajnath Singh had announced the “gifting” of INS Kirpan, the 1,450-tonne Khukri-class missile corvette in service with the Indian Navy, during his meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart General Phan Van Giang in New Delhi on June 19, in yet another military outreach to the Southeast Asian country.

“Both India and Vietnam are responsible members of the global community and regularly demonstrate their commitment to upholding the principles of fairness and justice enshrined in the international legal framework,” Admiral Kumar said.

China has given so many things and not just one to Pakistan Army, Air Force and Navy , giving 32 year old decommissioned ship is just a headache for receiver as they will find it hard to maintain it on long term basis, May be they will scrap it after five years. With all due respect, the Vietnamese adding one small and decades old missile corvette to their fleet isn't going to cause any loss of sleep in . Ch must be sent repeated signals from all neighbouring countries that their aggressive and acquisitional stance in the South China Sea region is completely unfounded and unacceptable; this must be done by unrelenting diplomatic and commercial pressure.
