As we all know, the GPS navigation system in the United States has been commercialized very early, and has achieved quite good results through out the world. Therefore, for a long time in the past, the US GPS navigation system has been a well-deserved industry leader in the field of global navigation systems. For the United States, they are very willing to achieve hegemony by taking the lead in a certain field. So, by virtue of its lead in navigation systems, the United States often cuts off other countries' signals. China, of course, is one of them. In order to get rid of this situation, China has been develo its own satellite navigation system since 1994.

In 2000, the domestic satellite navigation system Beidou Navigation System came into being. It is undeniable that at the begng of the Beidou navigation system, there was a big gap compared with the GPS. However, after decades of investment in research and development, China's satellite navigation system has now begun to overtake the United States, and GPS has also ushered in its biggest competitor, the Beidou navigation system.

So, how big is the gap between Beidou and GPS today? In addition to being used in the military, Beidou system, as 'the biggest' aerospace program that China has ever undertaken, what other applications can it have in life?

I’m from South East Asia, we always face problem from American to temporary switch off their GPS and causing our ship lost direction in the sea frequently. Luckily China help us to solve the problem. GPS is not serving the world, it serve American only, on the other hand, China is the only country show hel hand.

Sure, I'd use any system available if the one I was relying upon was no longer reliable. I just thought that the crews of ocean-going ships would still fallback on old time-tested methods of navigation.
