NEW DELHI: India's G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant on Sunday said that it took over 200 hours of non-stop negotiations to deliver a consensus on the G20 declaration that was adopted at the Leaders' Summit.

The Indian team of diplomats held 300 bilateral meetings and circulated 15 drafts with their counterparts on the contentious Ukraine conflict to drive home a consensus.

"The most complex part of the entire G20 was to bring consensus on the geopolitical paras (Russia-Ukraine). This was done over 200 hours of non -stop negotiations, 300 bilateral meetings, 15 drafts. In this, I was greatly assisted by two brilliant officers, Eenam Gambhir and K Nagraj Naidu," Kant posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

India on Saturday scripted history and stamped its authority on the global stage, securing a consensus on more than 100 issues on the agenda, including the most contentious one, the Russia-Ukraine war, as G20 leaders adopted the New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration.

上周六，G20领导人通过了《G20领导人新德里峰会宣言》，印度在议程上就100多个问题达成共识，其中包括最具争议的俄乌战争，从而书写了历史，并在全球舞台上树立了自己的权威。

The significance of the declaration stretched far beyond getting the opposite sides to agree to a compromise formulation over Ukraine.    It attested to India’s growing geopolitical heft, with the nations embracing the priorities flagged by Modi.
