在印华人真正的厄运来临则是1962年中印战争。印度在战争中惨败，其国内的华人成为他们发泄出气的对象。

有2395名印度华人被驱逐出境。大约有7500名印度华人感受到环境的恶化，自行离开印度，去了中国台湾、中国香港、美国、加拿大等地。

目前印度华人主要聚集在加尔各答，这里有一个面积不到10平方公里的中国城：塔坝华人聚居区，网上一般称为印度唐人街

塔坝的印度华人主要从事皮革加工，据说鼎盛时期有大小200多家华人皮革制品厂，每天处理皮革的数量占印度全国的1/5。此外，酱料制作也是印度华人从事的工作之一，基本是南方口味的酱料，主要供应给全印度的中餐厅。

“培梅中学”是印度唯一的一所华文学校，它的存在令塔坝的华人自豪

I studied with many chinese in Kolkata, every Chinese i knew were dumb in education and often fail multiple times in our school. They were all associated with cooking, maxmum number of them were chefs and moved in US or Canada. China town dont have much Chinese, many of them are located in the Bow barracks now called Bowbazar, and near dharamtalla and Park street area. I never saw racism on them, the Chinese i knew were bullies, they used to be older than other students cuz they failed to get promotion to next class so i always found them bigger badder and older bullies. We used to treat them like mafias in our school. If i wanted to get a beaten up, i used to hire a chinese classmate, offer him my tiffin and then ask him to beat him up

我在加尔各答和很多华人一起学习，我认识的华人读书不怎么样，学校考试经过没有通过。他们职业最多的是厨师，很多搬到了美国或加拿大。中国城没有太多的华人了，他们中的许多人生活在Bowbazar。

Tragic. The Chinese were an integral part of Kolkata. They gave the city some of its best restaurants, shoe stores and saloons. I feel sad, there were lots of Chinese students in our school, St. Patrick's H. S. School, Asansol. All of them were borders. They were the best sportsmen in the school. It seems to be history now.

There were two Chinese restaurants in Asansol who introduced us to Chow mein. The shops have since been sold and the families have migrated.

Once in Kolkata, I was at a street food shop run by two Chinese brothers. What amazed me was there mutual conversation in Bangla.

I am the 4th generation chinese in India. Most of my community have migrated due to better opportunities. A very few of us remain, and are mostly scattered in various cities in India. As time passes, even we few will wither away.

The Chinese people were never given there due for 300 yrs. in kolkata. They never complained about there problems.Then knew that nobody would listen to them and silently packed there bags and went to foreign countries while kee there tears within there eyes never allowing to fall off.
