As Indian, I believe we shouldn't compare this ranking against a diplomatic threat like Canada. In that case, only our connections & allies matter, not our hardpower. Like what countries support us, what countries don't, which ones are neutral. What's the narrative being set by Canada & it's media & can our media & government counter their fake narrative? Which intelligence service is better at waging information warfare & doing covert operations.

But in case of China, which is really an actual threat on our border, that's where hardpower actually matters. That's where we should compare this ranking.

A complete BS comparison. India and Canada are situated in a complete 180 degree opposite geography. Canada is located in a most peaceful location, having only one neighbor that is a friendly country, a military ally, and also the most powerful country today. It has no threats in vicinity. So it doesn't really require a large and fully armed military to begin with.

Now compare that with India that is surrounded by the most hostile and venomous neighbors. We are located in a place that can erupt in war anytime. That requires India to have a large military.

Military comparison is irrelevant as the regions are not in the neighbourhood or even the same continent. Canada has the upper hand as they can send their trained terrorists to India in the guise of returning Indians, or they can infiltrate through PK or Nepal. No point comparing because anyone attacks Canada then all NATO countries must respond. You'd then be facing 30 nations including the country who spends 5 times as much on it's military as the next 5 big spenders do combined.

Population of Canada is 4 billion and spending 36 billion USD on defence. It's enormous considering size of personnels in armed forces. That means most amount goes in hardware unlike in India where most amount either goes in salary-pension or maintence of hardware.
