Among them, China’s Belt and Road Initiative has become an important platform connecting Southeast Asian countries.

However, while everyone is paying attention to the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail in Indonesia, China has another very important high-speed rail project in Southeast Asia that is accelerating construction, which is the "China-Thailand Railway." According to the plan, once the China-Thailand Railway is completed, it will have a profound impact on the entire Southeast Asia region.

Essential project, as in the end that can connect the whole ASEAN (From China to Indonesia, hope they figure out something for the straits. You should be able to get to Australia even - though we'll likely need a decade or two of gathering know-how for such feat)
The bad news is that the first phase will be open in 2028... USA is ending its commitment in Ukraine, obviously to gather forces to attack China. A railway connection to Thailand or Myanmar would've allowed China to get alternative routes to a part of its exports/imports, but that is obviously not happening before the confrontation with USA.

Thailand squandered near 10 years vacillating between Japanese Shinkansen and Chinese HSR technology but it finally made up its mind after witnessing the success of the China-Laos Railway which took only 5 years from blueprint to completion. Although the 200-km top speed China-Laos Railway is not technically a high-speed system, it nonetheless brings increased trade of Lao agricultural produce and products to China that even Thailand also brings their own produce to Vientiane to ship to China.
The China-Thailand Railway, most probably the same 350-km top speed high-speed system like the Jakarta-Bandung line in Indonesia, will become an even more significant project than the China-Laos Railway in that it may be extended to link Malaysia and Singapore as well as branching to Yangon and Mandalay in Myanmar.
It is worth knowing that Kampuchea also expressed its interest for its own railway from Sihanoukville Port via Phnom Penh to China. This project is in its early stage and is still under discussion.

What US Gov has been doing in the last 5 years are contradictory to what I have studied at BU economic graduate program. It says tha US is the leader of de ocracy, free market, globalization, efficient and effective resource allocation, free transfer of knowledge and tchnologies, free trade, against protectionism. All of those are for the better, benefit and prosperius of the world. But now US Gov does whatever it could even differently with those all schoolar believe the best in order to keep its hegemony power to be #1 in the world.
