In the US the smart, nerdy or geeky kids/students/people are always made fun of and are targets of bullies. It is true in Hollywood and in life. The badass or even bullies always are the cool and popular kids/people that get all the goods. So being smart, nerdy or geeky are usually frowned upon and unpopular. Versus, in China the smart, nerdy or geeky students/people are encouraged and herald as Stars, they are also the ones to be imitated and learned from. This is one of the most polar differences in its culture that demonstrate and speaks volume on its society is.

Due to the large population, children in China usually face much greater academic pressure. There is no absolute right or wrong, what suits oneself is the best choice. But China is indeed a good choice that is at a high starting point in all aspects.

Actually I prefer to raise my kid in China and have him go to Chinese school too but Chinese people think the grass is greener in the West and insist on going abroad. So it's always a huge dispute, the perception of the West for the Chinese is still somewhat superior but they don't know the West is no longer competitive and it is already on a huge decline and it's not a livable place for Asians.

I despise people who leave their own countries. Everybody should stick to their own countries and try to make it better to whatever extent they can. Don't wait for the government to do things for you. Do whatever small thing you can do, to make your locality better. It's only through the little-by-little contribution of everyone over a long time that a country moves ahead. Without people making their sacrifice, no country can develop. So people who don't want to make that sacrifice for their future generations are nothing but extremely selfish people, who are just thinking about themselves. China didn't get to where it is now without the little-by-little sacrifice of millions of people. Same goes for all developed countries.
