'They tried to do the same with India ...': Russia's Putin slams West in speech filled with nuclear threats

普京发表充满核武威胁意味的演讲，抨击西方国家：他们对印度也绝不会手软

NEW DELHI: Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday hit out at the West for branding anyone as their "enemy" for not abiding by their norms, saying that it "tried to do the same with India once".

"They [West] are trying to cast everyone who is not ready to blindly follow these Western elites as the enemy... At a certain point in time, they tried to do the same with India. Now they are flirting, of course," Putin said.

新德里：周四，俄罗斯总统普京抨击西方将所有不盲从听话的国家视为“敌人”，称西方“也会对印度做同样的事情”。

“他们(西方)把所有不愿盲目追随西方精英的人视为敌人……他们也会试图对印度做同样的事情。当然，现在他们还在忙着跟印度打情骂俏。”

During his annual keynote speech in Sochi, Putin went on to praise the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government in India, saying that the leadership is "self-directed".

The Russian leader also said countries like India deserve a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), which is need of reforms.

在索契举行的年度演讲中，普京夸赞印度总理纳伦德拉·莫迪领导的政府，称领导层具有”自主意识”。

这位俄罗斯领导人还表示，像印度这样的国家应该获得联合国安理会常任理事国的席位，安理会需要改革了。

Warning for West

During his speech, Putin warned that if the West continued down this path, the consequences would be far-reaching.

Nuclear brinkmanship

President Putin also announced that Russia had successfully tested a potent new strategic missile and declined to rule out the possibility it could carry out weapons tests involving nuclear explosions for the first time in more than three decades.
