Israel Latest: Over 1,100 Dead; US Sends Carrier

More than 700 Israelis, most of them civilians, were killed in the attacks which erupted outside the Gaza Strip on Saturday morning. About 400 Palestinians have died in fighting and retaliatory attacks. The US said it’s moving a six-vessel aircraft carrier strike group to the eastern Mediterranean. Ian Fisher reports on Bloomberg Television.

As a US military veteran, I know of the skill and resources of the IDF. They are some of the very best in what they do, especially intelligence operations. It makes zero sense to me how Israel could have completely missed any signs leading up to the present attacks by Hamas. This is not a popular view, but I wonder if Israel knew for a long time of the build-up by Hamas and their plans. It increasingly looks like Israel may have allowed the present massive Hamas attack so that the hard-right of Israel government could use this aggression as an excuse for Israel to declare all-out war with Hamas, so Israel can get away with doing what the Israel hard-right government has always wanted to do: The complete wi out of Gaza, and anexation of the territorty. I'm sorry, but this is the only thing that makes sense to me, given recent and historical events in the area.

A Resolution and Peace needs to be reached instead of sending a US carrier to escalate life long “neighborhood” fight. Also, the US needs to get their butts out of these folk’s business, the US is already broke bankrupted at $33 trillion dollar default. I hope Congress does not fund a penny for any war outside the states that make up the US.
