Hundreds of people have been killed by an explosion at a crowded hospital in Gaza City, health officials say.

One doctor condemned what he called "a massacre" at Al-Ahli Arab Hospital, while another spoke of a scene of total devastation.

Palestinian officials say the blast was caused by an Israeli air strike.

But the Israeli military say it was the result of a failed rocket launch by Palestinian Islamic Jihad - an accusation the militant group rejected.

Israeli warplanes and artillery have been bombarding Gaza in response to an unprecedented attack on Israel on 7 October by the main Palestinian militant group, Hamas, which killed 1,300 people.

More than 3,000 people have been reported killed by strikes on Gaza.

One of the doctors was begging for help for the patients in a video short. He looked like he hadn’t slept in days. Why would anyone strike a hospital when people know the patients are in to bad of shape to leave the patients without help? I can’t believe anyone would think that’s justified? That’s a war crime!!

Hamas' rockets are largely home made rockets. They are more like fireworks than bombs. They could not possibly have destroyed that hospital in this manor. They would not have the logistical capability to fire enough rockets into the building in the midst of the indiscriminate carpet bombings that are occurring in Gaza.

It just baffles me how anyone can even consider this was caused by a “misfire”. What are the odds of a stray rocket just slamming into a hospital of all places? Don’t know who did it but this was done on purpose

From what I understand, this hospital wasn’t even in the north of Gaza. So why was it struck, especially knowing that innocents were taking shelter there?! I feel sad and ashamed for innocents people dying for a war without sense. Hamas attacked israel and now thing is getting out of control. This can even be a human's self destruction depending of the scale of this war.
