India reiterates opposition to China's Belt and Road Initiative

印度重申反对中国的“一带一路”倡议

NEW DELHI: India on Thursday said that China's Belt and Road Initiative "lacked respect for New Delhi's sovereignty and territorial integrity" in fresh criticism of China's ambitious project.

新德里：周四，印度对中国雄心勃勃的“一带一路”项目提出新的批评，称该倡议“缺乏对印度主权和领土完整的尊重”。

The ministry of external affairs (MEA) remarks come amid China hosting the Belt and Road Forum in Beiing.

印度外交部发表上述言论之际，中国正在北京举办“一带一路”论坛。

Reacting to the summit, external affairs ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that unlike in the past, India had not been invited by China to this year's Belt and Road Forum.

针对此次峰会，印度外交部发言人巴格奇表示，与以往不同的是，中国没有邀请印度参加今年的“一带一路”论坛。

"I don't think we received an invitation this year," he said at his weekly media briefing in reply to a question.

“我们今年没有收到邀请，”他在每周例行的媒体吹风会上回答一个问题时说。

He added that India's position on BRI, especially its "lack of respect for our sovereignty and territorial integrity are well known and consistent".

他补充说，印度反对“一带一路”上的立场，尤其是“不尊重我们的主权和领土完整”，是众所周知的，也是一贯的。

Notably, there has been increasing global criticism of the BRI by several participating countries.

值得注意的是，一些参与国对“一带一路”的批评越来越多。

Recently, Italy announced that it plans to ext BRI by the end of this year since it failed to meet its expectations.

近日，意大利宣布将于今年年底退出“一带一路”倡议，原因是该倡议未能达到意大利的预期。

India has been severely critical of the BRI as the project includes the so-called China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) that passes through Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir.

印度一直严厉批评“一带一路”，因为该项目包括所谓的中巴经济走廊（CPEC）通过巴控克什米尔地区。

In his remarks, Bagchi also referred to a statement issued by New Delhi in May 2017, when the first Belt and Road Forum was held.

巴格奇在讲话中还提到了在2017年5月举行首届“一带一路”论坛时，新德里发表的一份声明。

Asked about Russian President Vladimir Putin attending this year's Belt and Road Forum even as he skipped the G20 Summit in New Delhi weeks back, Bagchi said India is "loathe to link G20 participation with other things".

当被问及俄罗斯总统普京参加今年的“一带一路”论坛，尽管他几周前没有参加在新德里举行的G20峰会时，巴哥奇说，印度“不愿把参加G20与其他事情联系起来”。

China can do this because Nehru gifted the UN permanent seat to China giving preference to China over China as his great grandson Pappu is doing now following his footsteps.

Ivan, it's not the number of countries who attend matters it's which countries attend matters...China can try his best but this initiative is bound to fail globally as is evident from the debt trap of SriLankan, Pakistan, Cambodia, chiller, Nigeria, Morocco, Maldives, Myanmar, PAC island.....and many more. India doesn't care about BRI either as it has its own initiative to work for its future. It's not dependent on China's rise.

重要的不是有多少国家参加，而是哪些国家参加了……中国可以尽最大努力，但这一倡议注定会在全球范围内失败，从斯里兰卡、巴基斯坦、柬埔寨、印度、尼日利亚、摩洛哥、马尔代夫、缅甸、太平洋岛国的债务陷阱中可以明显看出。印度也不关心“一带一路”，因为它有自己的倡议，为自己的未来而努力。它并不依赖于中国的崛起。

China will learn the worst lesson from its suicidal belt and road initiative from terrorists from various countries. It won't get back its investment, too. There is no guarantee that elephants will not fall.

Tha "whole world", is not critical of BRI. Only western de ocrazies and India are. More than 140 countries are now part of BRI. Numerous world leaders are visiting China for the BRI meet. Bhakturds should also know, China is India's largest trading partner.

Which 140 countries boss ?? Don’t go just by just names. You should weigh the countries by their GDP, world trade percentage, population etc. If major economies like US, India, Germany, Japan and Australia etc are not there then it doesn’t make much sence in count of 140 countries!!
