The 50 million subway project, which no other country dared to take on, was eventually undertaken by China. However, China once again surprised the world by completing a successful subway project in Turkey in just 6 months. This joint project between China and Turkey set a new world record for subway construction in Istanbul, Turkey. Normally, subway projects take 18 to 24 months to complete, but the Chinese company finished it in less than half the time. The news of China's accomplishment caused a stir in the United States, with experts claiming it was impossible and suggesting fraud. Turkish officials responded by saying that China's infrastructure cooperation had nothing to do with the United States. China's advanced subway construction technology is evident not only in its extensive subway network within the country but also in its assistance in building subways for other countries, including the United States. The decision to build a subway in Istanbul was made in January of the previous year. Istanbul, a developed city and major tourist destination, lacked a subway system. Despite its high tourist traffic, transportation within the city was inconvenient. The Turkish government, inspired by China's subways, wanted to build an urban subway in Istanbul. However, due to Turkey's relatively backward infrastructure and economic development, many countries rejected the tender project. China's CRRC Zhuzhou Machinery Co., Ltd. stepped in and took over the subway project, as China has always been willing to help others with a fearless spirit.

It took over 10 years for Markham Ontario to build a road dedicated for buses above ground, and the length of the road is much shorter than the subway build by China and Turkey in Istanbul.

As a Canadian, our infrastructure is laughable! Btw, there are many many infrastructure projects currently underway in Toronto Canada that are worse than Markham, for example, new subway (underground) extension lines along the Eglinton Ave, the Scarborough extension lines replacing the Scarborough LRT.

More like if you have built over 7000km of subway tunnels, you get very good at it. Also China makes its own Tunnel boring machines... and have adapted and improved then a lot over the decades. Most nations are not able to build that kind of experience as each subway system is their first in several decade.

I have used the subway in many countries. I was shocked how bad it was in New York. Frankly all infrastructure i saw in the US was poor - roads, airports, subways, public transport.

Shanghai on the other hand, is like step into the future.

In the US, we have more than 1000 train accidents per year, year after year.  In California we have been hearing that a high speed train will be built. We have heard that for more than 15 years at least.  After so many years and hundred of million of dollars spent, I am yet to see a decent train system in California. In the meantime, old fool is sending billions to Ukraine...and now to Israel.

China did a wonder again in Turkey. In just 6 months China has completed a subway system half of the normal delivery time that has shocked the usa and japan. China has many experiences and expertise in building subway systems around the world much superior than the usa and Japan who called it “mission impossible”. The usa has forgotten that her own railways through the California mountains was built by Chinese workers in the 19th century. Without the Chinese workers the railways to the west coast could never be realized.

We are getting nowhere with the typical German construction side, where 1 person works and 5 people stand around watching him. And when one shift is over, workers drop everything and go home and construction stops until the next day.
