Pakistanis of the concurrent generations are remorseful and apologistic towards Bangladesh for their ancestors’ treatments towards while they were one country. But by the experience and by their very nature, Bangladeshis do not find this behavior of the Pakistanis is something useful for them. Yes, very true and this has been my observation as well. Even if we leave aside the Chinese who are altogether in a totally different league, then even Pakistanis are better behaved than low IQ Indians.

Well statistically too Pakistanis have higher IQ than Indians. So that may be a factor.

People are done with ethical and linguistic hangover and religious identity has become more prevalent among many Bangladeshis in recent times. You simply can’t support a country who committed one of the most heinous genocide in your land just few decades ago if religion doesn’t play any major role. Even if you do support them for reasons other than religion what motivates you to hate a country like India so blatantly who helped you gaining independence and were among the first few countries to acknowledge your sovereignty ?

Answer is crystal clear. Many of the Bangladeshis consider India as a Hindu country (which is not true. We are a secular country having more Muslim population than Pakistan or Bangladesh ) whereas Pakistan due to its religious identity find more takers among the religious Bangladeshis.

There are many Bangladeshis as well who are liberal and consider India as the main ally of their country.

In general, Bangladeshi people don’t think much about China. Asia is vast and China is far away from us and yet our ancient kings often sent gifts and maintained good relationships with Chinese royal families. Even now, China is our largest trade partner. We are fascinated about their cuisine, food habit etc but also admire what they have achieved economically in the last few decades. Whatever negative perception about China out there is, it’s mostly bcz of the nasty portrayal of China by the western media. As a former British colony such things influence our public to an extent. One thing that dismays us in particular is China’s patronage of Myanmar who are always creating problem for us by either pushing Rohingyas towards Bangladesh or harassing our fishermen.

That only goes to show that religious affinity trumps over all other factors. How else can one explain your feeling of affinity to Pakistan even after the genocide perpetrated by them in 1971 which led to the formation of Bangladesh & forget the hand of friendship extended by India in Bangladesh’s time of need.
