The US has announced a loan of $553 million to build a new terminal at Sri Lanka's Colombo port.

The project is being built by a consortium in which India's Adani group has a 51% stake.

The announcement signals increasing cooperation between India and the US to counter China's BRI.

As a Sri Lankan I am really happy about this. Unfortunately some of our  local opposition parties always oppose these things calling them  "selling" .
