NEW DELHI: A special song promoting the benefits of millets, in which Prime Minister Narendra Modicollaborated with Indian-American singer Falu, has been nominated for the Grammy award in the best global music performance category. The song, titled "Abundance in Millets," was performed by Falguni Shah, also known as Falu, and her husband, Gaurav Shah.

In the 'best global music performance' category, the song "Falu and Gaurav Shah (featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi) - Abundance in Millets" has received a Grammy nomination.

在“全球最佳音乐表演”类别中，歌曲《Abundance In Millets》获得了格莱美提名，由法尔古尼·沙阿(又名法鲁)和她的丈夫高拉夫·沙阿演唱，莫迪参与制作。

The year 2023 has been designated as the "International Year of Millets" following a proposal from India, which was endorsed by the members of the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) governing bodies and the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly.

"Prime Minister Modi has written a song with me and my husband Gaurav Shah," Falu had said ahead of the song's release earlier this year.

"Abundance in Millets" was created to raise awareness regarding the super grain as another potential key to minimising world hunger, according to a statement on Falu's website.

Falu, who won a Grammy Award in 2022 for Best Children's Album with her release "A Colorful World," shared that the idea for the song about millets came to her after meeting Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi following her Grammy win.

During their discussion about the power of music to bring about positive change and uplift humanity, she asked the prime minister if he would write the song with her, and he agreed.

A couple of years ago I visited my native city of Hyderabad. I went to a restaurant and my nephew ordered millet as a side dish and he said that was the reason to visit this particular restaurant. Though it was a tradition to make a thick soup-like dish in summer to drink in my grandma's days, it was totally forgotten.
