Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria, former chief of air staff, said Friday that the proposed redesignation of the Indian Air Force (IAF) as the Indian Air and Space Force would be a step in the right direction even as he described the move as a “work in progress”.

Interacting with the media on the sidelines of the platinum jubilee celebrations of the IAF’s No. 5 Squadron at Ambala in Haryana, Air Chief Marshal Bhadauria was answering a question on whether the force should be redesignated as a space force or a separate space force should be raised as in the US.

“It is a work in progress, I would say. But overall requirements of space and integration of space in air power is a natural integration. If you see the French they have an air and space force. The US has employed a different combination. Every country has its own approach,” said Air Chief Marshal Bhadauria.

I think there should be 4th Separate Branch of Indian Space Force. It should not be mixed with Air Force. There should be Indian Cyber Force and Indian Underwater Force too. Separate Exstence will create Attraction among youth, separate budget allocation, separate needs.

I believe that there should be a new division called "Indian Space and Cyber Forces". This would mean faster and more focused resource allocation. Also, it provides an opportunity to reduce unneeded bureaucracy in these future critical forces.

China and USA have high number of satellites with a huge number of military satellites too. But if you look towards India we don't have even a good number of satellites even thought Japan is ahead of us in term of military satellites, and USA and China contribute more than half of all military satellites active in the space now, we must need to increase our space based capacity like military and communication technology and satellites

Separated space force will better for India as it will let both of the branches (Airforce and Space force) will prosper properly otherwise if gets combined the funds will be used to the more prefferd branch that is Airforce (as of now). And the separated force will also help our defence to get stronger but in diversified manner.

Kee in mind the budget and availability of resources currently present in BHARAT , i think we can opt for a new way that is , a seperate organisation can be established with common resources from air force, so that there stays available resources for both the parties and slowly expand both the organisation until space part becomes self sufficient
